Background of the Program
Master of Art in Project Management (MAPM) is an integrated program designed to provide a specialized knowledge and expertise in project management for those seeking competencies and want to apply them in industry, commerce and public services. The foundational modules of the program are directed toward developing knowledge, skills, attitude and competency of students in fundamental management disciplines. The specialization module, on the other hand, will enable students to be equipped with knowledge, skills, attitude and competency relating to initiating project ideas, planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating them. Finally, the capstone modules are designed to integrate the knowledge, skill and competence acquired from the various foundational and specialized modules.
The program involves interactive teaching learning experiences with learners taking part in group work with participants from a wide range of industrial, commercial, geographical and cultural backgrounds. The objectives of such experiences are to develop the decision-making capabilities of learners and, thereby, producing managers of the desired quality. The MA in Project Management enables students to build broad based skills and knowledge in business management and particularly project management that will give them excellent opportunities to their immediate and long-term careers.
The MA in project management is designed to develop expertise to developing and taking an organizational project objective and drawing up a strategy for getting it done. Job responsibilities in this specialty can include mapping out a very complex series of specific deliverables with dates attached to them, delegating responsibilities, and then taking responsibility for communicating company’s senior management on how the project is progressing.
The aim for developing the program of MA in Project Management (MA - PM) is to come up with a highly reputed MA program that will help build a suitable climate for economic growth in Ethiopia with a focus on how to cope with local and international challenges, entrepreneurial thinking, decision-making and acting in an internationally competitive situation. This program also prepares students for success in the global market place by teaching them to think beyond national borders, adapt and negotiate according to foreign rules and customs, and become savvy cross-cultural emissaries. This program will provide state-of-the-art management knowledge, leadership skills and personal development competences within a dynamic, culturally diverse setting.
Objective of the Program:
The program is designed with the following objectives in mind.

- Promote and upgrade the knowledge areas of project management,
- Produce Competent, Knowledgeable professionals who would contribute to the development and transformation of the project of the country in line with the nations Millennium development agenda,
- Supply the labor market with professional graduates of high caliber who would be able to utilize the scares resources of the country in implementing the projects,
- Prepare future managers, consultants, policy makers, analysts, leaders and notable individuals who will be able to manage projects and mega projects and
- Equip graduates with skills to understand and respond to the fast globalization change and to foster competent, flexible, adaptive, and visionary project leaders.
